Parece que la artesanía está en alza, y no es para menos. Hoy en día, encontrar un buen artesano es cada vez más una misión imposible. Los oficios escasean y los buenos profesionales son difíciles de encontrar, lo cual se traduce en la dificultad de encontrar productos con un cierto nivel de detalle y precisión. Artesanía en perfecta sintonía con el diseño.

Por supuesto el punto de partida es la materia prima… que si un buen metalista, un ebanista, una forja… todo ello consigue que un trabajo se convierta en extraordinario, en conseguir la excelencia del material, que al final es en lo que consiste el diseño, ¿cierto?

Quizá es que nos ha arrullado la ola del extra creador, la tendencia al yo de autor, al ego del diseño y a la exigente referencia artística. No nos dimos cuenta a tiempo de que los conceptos artesanía y diseño unidos suman mucho e inevitablemente la distancia hace restar a todo.

Sin embargo, no perdamos la oportunidad de enfatizar trabajos perfectos, de potenciar las artes tan específicas y especiales como puedan ser un perfecto bordado o una exquisita marquetería. Démosle la importancia que realmente tienen a aquellos quienes aportan una visión exacta de una materialidad real.

La marca de un creador, la firma, el nombre crean una fama consolidada, una visión de la realidad que son palabra y motor.

Mueven y dirigen la corriente de pensamiento. Al fin y al cabo, eso es un creador, una propuesta y manera específica de expresar la realidad mediante un objeto.

¡Qué sería de las grandes marcas sin sus grandes creativos! Sin sus firmantes y señas de identidad, quienes ponen estilo a las marcas temporada tras temporada.

Pero, ¿y qué papel juegan los artesanos en todo esto?, ¿no son finalmente ellos quienes resuelven en la práctica?. Entonces ¿pueden ser ellos el creativo? La industria resulta decirnos que hay algo excesivamente equivocado, quizá estemos exagerando seriamente los extremos.

¿No es el mundo creativo el más dispuesto a romper barreras establecidas? Puede que haga falta un buen balance entre la lógica del sentido común, un reconocimiento al diseño y por ende al artesano. Todos esos oficios que fluyen en los proyectos, que aprenden todos los días de manera incansable, que poseen un conocimiento exhaustivo de cada detalle de proceso y material.

A veces, en ciertos casos, te sorprende la unión entre ambos. Real craftsmanship is on the rise, and no wonder. Nowadays, finding a good craftsman is becoming more and more of a mission impossible. Crafts are scarce and good professionals are hard to find, which translates into the difficulty of finding products with a certain level of detail and precision.

Of course the starting point is the raw material… what if a good metalworker, a cabinetmaker, a forge… all this makes a job become extraordinary, in achieving excellence in the material, which in the end is what design is all about, isn’t it?

Maybe we have been lulled by the wave of the extra creator, the tendency to the author’s ego, the ego of design and the demanding artistic reference. We didn’t realise in time that the concepts of craftsmanship and design together add up to a lot and inevitably distance subtracts from everything.

Let’s not miss the opportunity to emphasise perfect works, to promote such specific and special arts as perfect embroidery or exquisite marquetry. We have to give the importance they really have to those who bring an accurate vision of a real materiality.

The mark of a creator, the signature, the name create a consolidated fame, a vision of reality that are word and motor. Artesanía en perfecta sintonía con el diseño.

What would great brands be without their great creatives! Without their signatories and signs of identity, who give style to the brands season after season.

All those craftsmen who flow into projects, who learn tirelessly every day, who have an exhaustive knowledge of every detail of process and material.

And sometimes, in certain cases, you are surprised by the union between the two.
